The oil pump keeps the engine alive. Driven by the crankshaft, by a chain or by a shaft, it draws oil from the pan through the pick-up strainer and pushes it through the filter into the main gallery, from which it reaches the crankshaft and camshaft bearings, the tappets, the timing chain tensioner and the VVT adjusters, and cools the pistons on engines with oil jets. A relief valve limits the pressure when the oil is cold and thick. Most pumps are gear or gerotor pumps; many modern engines use a variable-displacement vane pump that saves fuel by pumping only what the engine needs.
Pumps wear and starve. The rotors and the housing wear with the miles and with dirty oil, so the pump delivers less and the pressure drops when the oil is hot and thin: the warning light flickers at idle, the tappets tick and the bearings start to wear. A pick-up strainer blocked by sludge from missed oil changes starves a healthy pump. A relief valve stuck open drops the pressure; stuck closed, it blows the filter seal. A variable pump whose control valve sticks holds the wrong pressure.
MONTTRON oil pumps are made to OEM-compliant quality and as aftermarket spare parts: the delivery, the relief pressure, the drive and the mounting flange of the original, so the pump fits the original block, pick-up and drive, and keeps the vital fluids circulating for engine cooling and lubrication. The materials are tested for durability and temperature resistance.
The range covers European and Japanese passenger cars. Each reference is identified by the OE number of the original part; send that number and the vehicle identification number (VIN) and we confirm the matching MONTTRON reference.
